The topic of the competition
Development of the environment of a fragment of Pohulyanka street in the format of a park pedestrian alley and formation of the image of the revitalization of the former industrial enterprise on the border of the urban environment and the forest park zone.

Design object
The design object of the competition is a fragment of Pohulyanka Street and the adjacent area from the south, which includes the territory of the former winery. The area of the land plot is approximately 4.88 hectares.
Street Pohulyanka
Pohulyanka Street remained in its existing geometry, it is proposed to repair it from replacing asphalt with pedestrian tiles and laying a bicycle lane within its width. Due to the preserved width of the street, the possibility of official transport and maintenance of the park, however, its nature has been changed to walking and cycling. All transport of the residential quarter occurs only at the expense of the residential area quarter.

Design principles are aimed at creating a sustainable, comfortable life, an inclusive medium-rise urban environment that is able to respond and adapt to the changing circumstances of modern life and climate change.

Living environment
Residential buildings are united by common semi-private public spaces character flows into residential yards where residents meet daily life. There is no space that forms a central functional connection between all buildings street in the traditional sense of the word, it is non-linear, flexible, variable and dynamic pedestrian public space, which is the main artery of the life of the district, which also connects intermediate connections between public and private areas. All buildings are elevated above the existing topography, thus not distorting it. All entrances to housing are organized from a different side than entrances to commerce - from the own residential entrance interblock street.

Public space.
The active front of the building from Pohulyanka Street and the space in front of the reconstructed one
the public complex becomes more than just a means of communication. This space becomes a place where people live, can gather and connect. All first floors are active public facilities, and their entrances are oriented towards streets. However, the functionally saturated public zone is separated from the park by a green area
zone, thus closing it from the park on the side of Pohulyanka Street, and at the same time creating its own special, saturated space of the quarter.
Terrain and nature.
Preservation of the nature of the terrain and existing trees, unimpeded movement of water on the slopes
provides an elegant arrangement of buildings on columns that creates a visual the flow of space and the ever-present transparency through the building of the quarter in in the direction of Pohulyanka Park. The system of lakes as storage tanks for rainwater and meltwater provides the natural microclimate of the slopes of Pohulyanka and the preservation of all water in the quarter and in the park. Water is an element of the identity of the territory of Pohulyanka and the new residential quarter.
Children's preschool
The kindergarten is built into the first floors of a residential building, which has a nice pedestrian walkway
accessibility, as it is located in the middle of the block and on the side of the slopes, where there is more
the amount of landscaping. The institution is designed for 60 children with the possibility of expansion to 90
children.

Apartment.
The apartments are stylistically different from the existing factory building in character and materials, advantageously highlighting the authenticity of historical buildings. Using wood in the decoration of the facades of the building, we push the new designed building to a level background, at the same time thanks to the natural materials of the facades, the building merges and mimics the environment of the forest park, and over time it will become even more similar natural environment.

Old historical factory buildings are preserved and reused, their significance as identifiers of the quarter is strengthened due to the preservation of their shape and construction volume, and thanks to the reconstruction, their original appearance of architecture is returned. The main public functions are concentrated here: sports and recreation. It is also saturated public space in front of them, thus it becomes the core of attraction of the quarter. The two existing volumes of the historical building are connected by a glazed passage.
